I found this place through your youtube videos. That RGB beam closeup is amazing. I may order something similar. I'd like to get one with adjustable outputs so I can mix the colors easily. Civillaser has a nice one for ~$2300, very tempting.

Good to see another member join, too quiet here. There was a 10 watt RGB on techhood ebay recently too, tempting. Mixing colors sure gives a lot of tints instead of just RGB, haven't tried that yet myself, but would like to make yellow. The 10 watt is TTL and analog, you can make your tints using analog and only 650 USD. Don't know the beam quality though, I am tempted to buy it.

I saw that, 10W, hugely powerful, probably amazing to see in person, I'd almost be scared to look at it. Does the analog mean there are little transistors or something to screw/twist and adjust the output? I'm a complete newby when it comes to this lab stuff, all I've ever had are pointers.

I joined because Laser Project was asking in comments for folks to help this place grow, and his videos have been helpful so I wanted to show support. However, I'm so ignorant that my input would mostly annoy the rest of you, probably. I really am only here because I have very little to do and I find the sparkling dust that filters through laser beams to be beautiful enough to spend ridiculous amounts of money and effort on them.

I especially enjoy wavelengths where two colors meet, like 445nm where the light is one color and the dust sparkles another, so these RGBs are simply amazing. I'd like to see more of the bottom-end of that violet-blue mixture, something around the 415nm or 430nm, and stuff from 475nm to the 500s. I have a few pointers in that range and they are just wonderful.

I've been on the fence about getting a 470nm pointer, 470 is just a little darker than I'd like, but an RBG would just be so much better, albeit non-portable. Sanwu's RGB is only 500mw, which isn't bad, really, but for that much money I'd really like to get at least 1W.

Doesn't matter if new to lasers or not, ask away. I bought that 10 watt RGB techhood had for sale, now I want the 15 watt RGB... It never ends. 470 nm is a very beautiful color, I don't like 450 nm after having a pointer with that color now, although 450 nm is blue, power for power, it isn't as bright to the eye as 470 nm cyan blue.

Sanwu's RGB is very tempting, but at 850 dollars, ouch, but the diodes are single mode and keep a nice tight beam delivering a spot just as bright in the distance as much higher power multimodes. so I guess it's fine, but I also like to see a bright beam leaving the end of the laser too. I'm looking into putting an achromatic beam expander on a 5 watt RGB pointer I'm building to reduce the divergence down to that of a single mode laser diode, so will have the best of both, although a fat beam. You may have seen that 5 watt RGB laser on my YouTube channel. I tried using a regular beam expander on it which isn't achromatic and the colors separated a bit, distinctly being able to see three colors instead of a single white beam when all three colors were combined together. Without the beam expander the beam was a white color, but with the beam expander made for a single wavelength (although broadband 400-700 nm), they separated a little, so I need achromatic lenses in the beam expander which keeps the focus the same for all three R,G,B colors so the beam stays together better.

Achromatic lenses are multielement glass which are designed to focus the visible wavelengths to the same point with at least two sections glued together (which are designed have specific but different indexes of refraction) can keep the three colors focused together. Wow, that wasn't a graceful explanation, but I'm leaving it as is.
